The current year is expected to give more employment opportunities to expats seeking to land jobs in the UAE.
As Dubai corporations become more confident of growth during 2019, the expat professionals most in demand will be from the financial, IT and systems administration sectors, especially those with previous experience in data science analysis, digital and cyber security and project management. Also in demand will be expats seeking admin and support roles. According to a recent report, 89 per cent of the UAE’s chief financial officers are positive about this year’s business development.
The several reasons for this positivity include the emirates’ agenda focusing on economic diversification along with its enthusiastic adaptation of digital technology across the region. Robotics and artificial intelligence are new technologies needing specialised skills and experience, and the introduction of VAT requires the hiring of experienced financial and accountancy professionals. In addition, as the emirates focus on the tourism dollar, hospitality, services and food and beverage companies are all seeking experienced new staff familiar with the tourism industry.
At the same time, ongoing projects and new orders in the non-oil and gas sectors are seeing sharp improvements in positivity, with confidence in rising output in these sectors at a seven-year high. At the same time, luxury property developers are seeing an increase in sales across the board, suggesting that recent reports of falling prices and stagnant demand are now well in the past. The unexpected boom is being put down to investors taking a punt on the UAE’s solid growth prospects over the next several years.
