Teresa Tennant awarded OBE for services to sustainable investment

Teresa Tennant, co-founding manager of the Jupiter Ecology fund, has been awarded an OBE for services to sustainable investment in the Queen's New Year Honours List.

The Jupiter Ecology fund, which now has £585m in assets under management and is run by Charlie Thomas, was launched in 1988 and was the first equity investment fund specifically focused on sustainable development.

Tennant, who is also known as Tessa, is currently non-executive director of the Green Investment Bank. She co-founded The Ice Organisation, which encourages consumers to purchase more sustainable products and services, and is also a co-founder of the UK Social Investment Forum and the Association for Sustainable & Responsible Investment in Asia.

FCA's McDermott receives CBE in Queen's Birthday Honours list

Shaun Kingsbury, chief executive of the Green Investment Bank was also awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours for services to the UK's green economy.

Meanwhile, Alan Giles, a non-executive director at the Competition and Markets Authority, was awarded an OBE for services to UK business and the economy.

Vivian Hunt, managing partner of management consulting firm McKinsey & Co, received a Damehood for services to the economy and women in business. She was described by the honours committee as a "powerful advocate for non-traditional voices in the corporate world", according to The Telegraph.

In addition, Sarah Churchman, head of talent, inclusion and wellbeing at PwC, was awarded an OBE in the New Year's Honours list for her work championing diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Commenting on her Honour, Kevin Ellis, chairman and senior partner of PwC, said: 

"I am very proud that Sarah Churchman has been recognised for her work in leading PwC's diversity and inclusion agenda for over 15 years. Sarah's passion, energy and commitment to driving awareness and change has been instrumental in PwC's publication of gender and BAME pay gap data. Sarah's influence on the professional services sector and beyond has led to many policies and practices that promote inclusion, making this award richly deserved."

In 2014, PwC became one of the first organisations to voluntarily publish its gender pay gap data and this year the firm became the first organisation to publish its ethnicity pay gap.
