But if you asked me to say which one is the best, I’m not sure I’d be able to pick just one.

Luckily for me, a ranking of the world’s top skylines has just been released by Radical Storage.

The list is based on handing out scores across categories including the average height of the city’s 10 tallest buildings, nighttime skyline visibility, skyscraper density and the number of award-winning high rises.

The top 100 cities on Skyscraper Center, which ranks cities based on how many skyscrapers above 150 metres are there, were then narrowed down to just 10.

Overall, Shenzhen in China was named as the world’s best skyline, with 679 skyscrapers over 150 metres tall. The city, which borders Hong Kong, ranked well for nighttime visibility, and boasts a density of 0.39 tall buildings per square kilometre.

Five other destinations in China made the top 10, including Hong Kong in third place, Wuhan in fifth, Guangzhou in sixth, Shanghai in seventh and Chongqing in joint ninth place.

Other Asian destinations that made the list include Kuala Lumpur, which was eighth, and Tokyo, which was joint ninth.

Dubai came in second place thanks to the number of supertall skyscrapers, with 32 buildings more than 300 metres tall. The UAE city is also home to the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, which stands at 829.8 metres tall.

New York City also made the list in fourth place, and is the city with the best architectural recognition, with 20 award-winning skyscrapers.
