There are few greater joys in life than checking into a hotel, chucking on a plush robe and ordering room service.

We could hardly imagine anything that would make the experience better until Hotels.com announced that it was “hiring” people to do just that.

The hotel booking platform has just unveiled a new competition where people can apply for one of three “jobs”: Room service critic, robe researcher, or hotel gym rater.

Rather than actual roles, the winners will receive a €4,300 gift card to be used towards a stay, and they’ll be asked to report back afterwards with a post on social media and a detailed review on the website.

“Booking a hotel shouldn’t be complicated, and neither should a job title. At Hotels.com, we like things simple – even our mascot, Bellboy, is an actual bell,” Melanie Fish, vice president of public relations for Hotels.com said.

“So, when we say, ‘Hotel Robe Researcher’, you don’t need a job description because it’s all right there in the name.”

You can apply to be a “room service critic”, “robe researcher” or “hotel gym rater” on the Hotels.com website.

Applicants will need to share why they would be perfect for the role in 200 words or less, as well as the name of a hotel they’d like to visit as part of the “role”.

You’ll also need to share your social media handles as well as how many followers you have.

The contest is currently only open to residents of the US, but we’re hoping they will expand the “roles” to Europe in the near future.
