As Spain’s devastating numbers of covid-19 infections and deaths seems to be slowing, expat bar and pub owners in the Costa del Sol are planning free beer celebrations to mark the end of the lockdown.

Bar owners are planning huge celebrations to be held as soon as the country’s lockdown ends. Featured will be free beer, and the parties will be open to all expats as well as to holidaymakers and visitors who’ve been trapped in the region since the lockdown began. Organisers are even inviting holidaymakers who’ve booked short trips aimed at escaping to the sun after several months of worry and fear in their home countries.

Bar and restaurant owners all along the popular coastline are looking forward to welcoming regulars as well as recent incomers in an attempt to not only celebrate the end of the restrictions, but also to demonstrate the region’s determination to get back to normal as soon as possible. Some are even planning ‘welcome back’ events for returning holidaymakers as well as expats who left for their home countries when infections began to spiral out of control.

One Scots bar owner in Fuengirola has already ordered extra supplies of a favourite German beer against anticipated demand, and is planning to serve it free to both locals and new arrivals during the celebration. The region’s Trip Advisor pages are now arousing strong interest in the upcoming party season, with many saying it’s a way to celebrate the country’s victory over the coronavirus as well as remembering those who’ve died during its spread.
