But if you’ve booked a trip for this winter and haven’t sorted your hotel yet, we might just have a new option for you.

Le Graal Cortina is set to open later this year within a reimagined 1920s palazzo. Boasting just 30 rooms, including 13 suites, the boutique property in Cortina d'Ampezzo might just be the chicest new stay in town.

Designed by Italian architect Achille Salvagni, you can expect deep woods, warm velvets and plenty of light in the space that puts the mountains at the core of the experience.

What to expect at Le Graal Cortina

The property offers direct access to the region’s iconic ski terrain and Cortina’s historic centre.

After a day on the slopes or hiking the trails, you can relax at Le Graal Spa, which comes complete with an indoor pool, sauna, hammam, cryotherapy chamber and treatment rooms.

Dining is also at the heart of the experience, with three restaurants and bars to choose from.

At Le Monsù, you can expect a classic fine dining experience, with the name coming from the Sicilian version of the French Monsieur Le Chef, the head chefs at aristocratic residences.

For a more informal experience, you can book a table at all-day dining spot Le Café, which is envisioned as a blend between a café, a bistrot, and a pâtisserie, offering Sicilian dishes with a contemporary twist.

If you’re after a nightcap, you can swing by Le Graal Bar. The American bar has its own take on classics like the negroni or a spritz, and you can also order canapés and pastries.

Other new openings in the Dolomites

Le Graal Cortina certainly isn’t the only new opening this winter.

In early December, The First Cortina by The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts will also open its doors in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The 76-key property will be home to a spa as well as several restaurants, including celeb hotspot Zuma.

Next year, the historic Hotel Cristallo in Alta Badia will reopen under the Mandarin Oriental brand following extensive renovations.

It will have 83 rooms, including 30 suites, as well as a number of restaurants and bars as well as the brand’s iconic spa.
