Reddit Poll Shows Mt. Gox Creditors Favor Holding Bitcoin

A recent poll on the Reddit Mt. Gox forum revealed that the majority of creditors plan to keep their Bitcoin once compensation is received.

According to Chinese journalist Colin Wu, the 467 participants in the Reddit poll clearly preferred holding Bitcoin.

55% of voters (260 people) indicated they would not sell their Bitcoin after receiving compensation. 18% (88 people) opted to sell all their Bitcoin. 15% (68 people) plan to sell 1% to 25%. Lastly, 6% (26 people) intend to sell 25% to 50%.

This distribution indicates a diverse range of strategies among creditors. But, a clear majority is leaning towards holding their Bitcoin.

However, the optimistic outlook is affected by recent security concerns. The Mt. Gox creditor subreddit has been flooded with reports of multiple unauthorized login attempts. This has raised fears of a potential cyberattack.

While some speculate this could be a “brute-force” attack, others suggest it might be a website glitch.

Following the reports, the Mt. Gox claim website is also down for maintenance. The Mt. Gox exchange hack is one of the largest crypto exchange hacks in history.

However, after years of waiting, the creditors are getting ready to receive their Bitcoin. Mt. Gox has moved over $9 billion to Kraken to begin the repayment process.
