Cardano Powers Brazil Olympic Tech Push With Blockchain And AI

The Cardano Foundation has partnered with the Brazilian Olympic Committee to test blockchain, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things tools across Brazilian sport.

Summary

  • Cardano Foundation and COB will build a three-year roadmap for blockchain, AI and IoT pilots.
  • The plan covers digital identities, fan engagement, equipment tracking and transparent sports governance for athletes.
  • Early workshops have started, with institutional pilots expected across Brazilian sport in the coming months.

The Brazilian Olympic Committee said the agreement will explore emerging technologies for sports management, transparency and efficiency. The work will focus on practical tools for athletes, coaches, federations and fans.

The partners plan a three-year roadmap built around four areas. These include digital identity and certification, fan engagement, equipment tracking, and governance and transparency in funding programs.

Digital identity and equipment tracking lead pilots

The plan includes secure digital identities for athletes and coaches. These identities could support globally verifiable certifications and reduce paper-based records across sports programs.

The roadmap also covers intelligent tracking of sports equipment through trusted digital records. COB said relevant processes may use permanent, auditable and verifiable records to improve information security and daily operations.

Additionally, the Cardano Foundation said the first executive workshop took place last week. Institutional pilots are expected to follow as the partnership moves from planning into applied testing.

Emanuel Rego, COB’s director general, said the agreement goes beyond technical upgrades. He said COB wants to “lead by example” and use innovation to strengthen trust with athletes, federations and society.

Marcelo Santos, COB’s technology manager, said the partnership places COB at the front of digital transformation in sport. Rafael Fraga, the Cardano Foundation’s manager in Latin America, said the group was eager to share the next steps.

Brazil becomes a key Cardano test market

The COB partnership adds to Cardano’s broader push in Brazil. As previously reported by crypto.news, the Cardano Foundation partnered with SERPRO, Brazil’s state-owned IT provider, to support blockchain education and public sector use.

The Foundation also announced a partnership with the University of Brasília in May to launch the first Cardano Project Development Lab in Latin America. That program focuses on blockchain, AI, IoT, digital identity, governance and public sector tools.

For COB, the agreement gives a national sports body a chance to test public blockchain tools in daily administration. The first pilots will show whether these systems can improve record keeping, trust, fan links and internal checks.

For Cardano, the deal puts its technology in a non-financial use case tied to sport. The partnership does not include a token launch or direct payment product. It focuses on records, identity, transparency and education.

The announcement did not name specific sports, athletes or pilot dates. COB said the first projects should be developed in the coming months after the initial workshop discussions.
