Missing Expats Family Offers Huge Reward For Information

Lisa Brown’s family are offering a reward of £100,000 for information related to her disappearance in Spain over two year ago.

The family’s appeal for information and its reward offer is backed by UK charity Crimestoppers and supported by Britain’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Just 31 years old when she disappeared, Lisa was last seen at her home in Guadiaro in November 2015. Her still devastated family believe someone in the English-speaking community in the south of Spain may be concealing important information as to her whereabouts.

According to Lisa's brother Craig, there’s a wall of silence in the region, with some people knowing exactly what happened to her. He’s asking those who read about the plea and reward to also think about Lisa’s son, who still asks when his mummy is coming back home. The reward, according to Craig, is intended to persuade those who know more than they’re telling to open up and put the family out of the misery of not knowing whether she’s still alive or whether she’s dead.

To ensure the message got to those who need to hear it, Craig set up a press conference in Cadiz province’s Los Barrios. Crimestopper’s Director of Operations Roger Critchell told local press the family are more and more desperate to find out what’s happened to Lisa, adding he’s aware people might be reluctant to go to the Spanish police with what they know or saw. At this junction, he said, anyone with verifiable information should contact Crimestoppers as they will be guaranteed anonymity.

The press conference was also attended by British Ambassador to Spain Simon Manley, who said he hoped the appeal would be successful. Citizens’ collaboration, he added, is essential is cases such as Lisa’s disappearance. The reward will be paid for substantial information resulting in either the arrest and conviction of any perpetrators or the identification of Lisa’s whereabouts, and will run for six months from March 23rd.
