Independent airport lounge access provider Priority Pass is to add wayfinding technology to its app to help users locate lounges at major airports.

A new partnership with Priority Pass owners Collinson Group and indoor mapping and wayfinding specialist LocusLabs will see the technology integrated into the app in the coming weeks.

It will initially cover airports at Dubai, Hong Kong, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Singapore, Manchester, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Mexico City and Istanbul Ataturk, before being rolled out to other locations.

As well as making it easier for members to locate lounges, the location-as-a-service technology will help users to understand how busy facilities such as security lines are, as well as enabling those with push notifications activated to receive service recommendations and exclusive discounts.

The two companies are also collaborating on technologies including AI to assist customers in navigating the airport of the future.

Commenting on the news Christopher Evans, Joint CEO of Collinson Group, said:

“Feedback from Priority Pass members consistently highlights the opportunities that contextually-aware mobile technologies can create as we look at smart ways to help an increasingly choice-rich traveller to make the very best use of their time at airports and other transportation hubs.

“We are delighted to be working with the team at LocusLabs and see their innovative mapping and location services playing a major role in helping us enhance the travel experience we offer our customers and clients.”

The Priority Pass portfolio comprises over 1,000 airport lounges in over 500 countries, with recent additions in locations including Bogota, San Jose (Costa Rica), St Louis, and Los Angeles, where the Virgin Atlantic LAX Clubhouse was recently was recently added.
