Qatar Airways has built its name on service. Skytrax rates it as a five-star airline, and a business class cabin is where that reputation should be easiest to judge. At this level, a comfortable seat and a good meal are expected, so the real test is whether the whole journey feels properly thought through. I flew business class from London Heathrow to Doha on the 1st of December 2025, interested to see whether the experience matched the reputation.

The experience began well at Heathrow. Qatar Airways has its own check-in desks, and although the departure area was busy, the staff were organised and attentive and the process was smooth. A calm start sets the tone for everything that follows, and it is part of what a business class fare should buy.

The seat is where business class must justify its price. There was a sense of space and calm in the cabin that I do not always find on a flight of this length, and it remained clean and quiet throughout.

The entertainment system was a real highlight. The screen was clear and responsive, and the selection of films, television and music was wide enough to fill the journey without difficulty.

Food and drink were handled well. Meals were thoughtfully prepared and presented, there was a good range of choices, and the courses arrived with minimal delay. Drinks were offered regularly. The service felt comparable to a good hotel restaurant, which is the standard this cabin should be aiming for.

The crew made the greatest difference. They were courteous and responsive, and they seemed genuinely interested in passenger comfort without being intrusive. They offered help with the entertainment controls and readily provided blankets and pillows, and any request I made was handled promptly. None of this is dramatic, but together these small touches made the flight feel relaxed.

Arrival at Hamad International Airport continued the experience. The airport is sprawling and modern, but it is easy to navigate, with clear signage, plenty of amenities and efficient ground services. It felt like a logical extension of the airline rather than a separate operation.

The real question with business class is value, and the fare is a significant commitment.  Most aspects of the journey felt above average compared with other long-haul airlines I have flown, and the flight felt carefully planned and executed from start to finish.

For anyone flying from the UK to Doha, or beyond via Doha, Qatar Airways delivers a level of consistency that makes the journey part of the trip rather than simply a transfer between destinations. I would choose the airline again.
