Hyatt has announced plans for the second German property under its select service Hyatt Place brand.
The 300-room Hyatt Place Dusseldorf Mercedesstrasse is scheduled to open in 2024, and will form part of the city’s Tadao Ando Campus and Tower (named after the Japanese architect responsible for the building).
The development – which will be located on the edge of Dusseldorf’s city centre – will also house the Dusseldorf Arts Club, the EuroAtlantic Museum for Digital Art and the Cyber Tech Campus.
The tower aims to be the first “CO2 neutral smart office campus, managed by AI-powered building management systems”, and will also feature roof gardens, a park and a public art display.
Hyatt Place Dusseldorf Mercedesstrasse will join the Hyatt Place Frankfurt Airport, which opened in 2018.
Commenting on the news Felicity Black-Roberts, Hyatt’s vice president of development – Europe, said:
“The plans for Hyatt Place Düsseldorf Mercedesstrasse reflect the brand’s strong momentum in the fast-growing select service category as Hyatt Place hotels continue to expand globally.
“Dusseldorf is one of Germany’s most important economic centres, bolstered by recent international investments including from the China Competence Centre, making the district a perfect platform for us to bring our second Hyatt Place hotel to Germany.”
In November last year Dusseldorf’s luxury boutique hotel The Wellem joined Hyatt’s upmarket The Unbound Collection, marking the brand’s first property in Germany.
