LNER has revised its onboard first class catering with three new complimentary menus.

These will vary depending on time of day and route.

The ‘Dine’ service includes the Full LNER or Full Veggie LNER cooked breakfast, which is freshly prepared onboard.

Other menu choices are provided throughout the day, with both with hot and cold dishes along with snacks.

For the first time, these include vegan options as LNER is supporting Veganuary.

Richard Judge, head of experience proposition at LNER, said:

“We pride ourselves as offering our customers the best possible experience and we are delighted to be introducing our new year menu.”

One feature offered by LNER is the ability to ascertain the menu on any particular train when booking direct either with the website or the app.

Certainly, LNER is kept on its toes. Its Anglo-Scottish routes are the most important.

Not only does it face airline competition but it is also competing with open access Lumo on the London-Edinburgh run.

Despite airline competition, rail is increasing market share (except for times when there is industrial action) as MD David Horne tweeted:

At time of writing no further rail strikes are planned so it’s likely rail will continue its Anglo-Scottish growth.
