A little over a year since first opening its doors, Hotel Vic on the Harbour, a hotel developed by local real estate company Sun Hung Kai Properties in Hong Kong, is set to be rebranded as the Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong in the third quarter of this year.

The rebranded hotel, which first opened in July last year, will be the first Hyatt Centric property in the Greater China region and its fourth in Asia-Pacific, joining the brand’s inaugural property in the region, Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo, which opened last year.

Commenting on the decision to rebrand the newly opened hotel, Tasos Kousloglou, CEO of the hotel division of Sun Hung Kai Properties, said: “We decided to work with Hyatt after careful consideration and are excited to debut the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Greater China. The Hyatt Centric brand’s young and dynamic profile will fit perfectly with the vibrant neighborhood”.

“With the hotel’s convenient waterfront location and proximity to cultural and leisure hotspots, Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong will be an ideal base for savvy, in-the-now guests to explore all that this dynamic gateway city has to offer,” said Stephen Ho, president of Greater China, global operations, Hyatt. A Hyatt spokesperson clarified that the term “in-the-now” refers to people who are “savvy, always connected and living in the moment”.

The 665-room property is located at the waterfront in Hong Kong’s North Point district on the eastern side of Hong Kong Island, and is connected to the Harbour North shopping complex. The hotel itself is also part of a waterfront integrated development expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of this year.
