Etihad Airways has teamed up with Mediclinic Middle East to offer UAE-based travellers a convenient COVID-19 PCR testing service at their home, or at a Mediclinic facility, before they travel. It’s part of the recently introduced Etihad Wellness sanitisation and safety programme, which aims to maintain health and hygiene standards at every stage of the customer’s journey.

“This new initiative will enable passengers to undergo COVID-19 PCR testing in the convenience of their homes prior to travel, or at one of our facilities in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain or Dubai, should they prefer,” explained David Hadley, Chief Executive Officer of Mediclinic Middle East.

“All testing is carried out by a trained professional, and our dedicated COVID-19 testing laboratories in Abu Dhabi and Dubai mean that results are available quickly and accurately.”

After booking a flight, passengers can contact Mediclinic to make a home or clinic appointment, with Etihad recommending bookings are made least 48 hours prior to travel. Test results will be received within 24 hours of the test swab reaching the laboratory.

Passengers who receive a negative result are permitted to travel, but must print out the result and present it at check in.

Travellers with a positive results are not permitted to travel and must rearrange their flight for a future date. The Department of Health will be informed and they are required to follow strict UAE quarantine guidelines.

All travellers are advised to check etihad.com for specific destination requirements, particularly as many countries will require a PCR test to be conducted at a specific time before travel.
