US-based NFP swoops for Mass Insurance Brokers in Ontario

US insurance broker and consultant NFP has acquired Mass Insurance Brokers and Easyway Insurance Brokers – collectively known as Mass.

Mass is a P&C brokerage based in Markham, Ontario that has been in business for more than 30 years. The brokerage has additional offices across the province and another in Montreal. On top of offering group, affinity, and individual coverages, Mass specializes in equestrian insurance through Henry Equestrian.

Mass president and CEO Greg Dunn will remain to lead the team, and join NFP as a managing director overseeing personal lines and small commercial lines. Another Mass executive, Randy McGlynn, will be appointed director of business development. Both Dunn and McGlynn will report to NFP Canada president Marty Shaw.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the entire Mass team to the NFP family,” commented Shaw. “Their strong leadership team, industry expertise and presence in the Canadian market will help us establish an even greater footprint across the country’s largest provinces.”

“This acquisition couldn’t have come at a better time. Embarking on this new relationship with NFP, we enter 2019 with even more momentum than the previous year,” added Dunn. “The expansive list of capabilities and resources that NFP provides benefits our long-standing clients and will help boost our service menu to appeal to prospective clients.”

“We go to great lengths to ensure our clients get the most comprehensive coverage along with a premier level of service,” remarked McGlynn. “We couldn’t be happier to join NFP, an international brokerage and consulting business that matches this commitment.”

In a report published earlier this year, both PwC and OPTIS said that NFP was one of the top buyers of brokers in 2018, joining the ranks of Acrisure, Arthur J. Gallagher, and Hub International.
