Citigroup Appoints Head Of North America Insurance Investment Banking

Citigroup has hired Jawad Haider to serve as managing director, head of insurance, of the company’s North America team within the financial institutions investment banking group.
Haider previously held a similar position, managing director and head of insurance (North America financial institutions group), at Credit Suisse – a role he served in for a little over a year and a half. Prior to that, he worked on insurance client coverage as managing director with Barclays Capital and as senior vice-president with Lehman Brothers Investment Banking. Haider started his career as a vice-president with investment bank Bear Steams.
In his new role with Citigroup, Haider will be based in New York City. During his time with Credit Suisse, he was also based in NYC.
Reuters picked up the appointment story after obtaining an internal memo, with Citigroup later confirming the news.
“The insurance industry is a critical sector and a key driver of revenue for the North America FIG franchise historically,” the banking company said in its memo.
