And if you’re planning a visit but haven’t booked your hotel yet, you might just want to take a look at the newly opened CASA METT Sitges.

The boutique property, which has just 38 rooms, is located within the former Hotel Capri, which was in turn once five historic Noucentista villas.

For those looking for the best of both worlds on their holiday, the property is just 100 metres from the beach, and within walking distance of the historic centre with its numerous cultural sites.

Open exclusively to those over the age of 18, the hotel is perfect for couples looking for a relaxing escape.

Speaking of relaxation, CASA METT Sitges is home to a wellness space that spans two treatment rooms, including a double cabin for couples, plus a sauna.

While beach bums are steps away from the city’s famed sandy shores, there’s also a gorgeous outdoor pool for you to work on your tan from.

This is also the venue for the Pool Club, where you can expect good music and tasty cocktails from lunch to sunset.

On the food front, guests can dine at Italian-Mediterranean restaurant Balera which draws on the Italian coast for its dishes, including fresh pasta, artisanal pizzettas and desserts like tiramisu.

A popular coastal town in Catalonia, Sitges is located around 35 kilometres southwest of Barcelona.

The city has long been known for its LGBTQ nightlife scene, which is vibrant year-round but particularly so during gay pride in June and bear week in September.

Other reasons to visit include the gorgeous beaches – including one which was named among the top 20 in the world – and historical sites like the Church of Sant Bartolomeu and Santa Tecla, which dates back to the 17th century, and the Maricel Palace, which was built in the Noucentista style.
