XRP Scammers Target Indias Supreme Court YouTube

In a shocking incident, the official YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India was hacked and used to promote a fraudulent Ripple and XRP investment scheme through a fake livestream. The hack occurred on September 20, 2024,and the hackers renamed the channel to “Ripple Official” and replaced the profile picture with Ripple’s logo. The hackers rebranded the channel and a fake livestream was created, promoting a fraudulent XRP investment scheme with promises of unusually high returns.

Previous videos on the channel, including important judicial proceedings and announcements, were deleted. YouTube removed the compromised account within hours of detection as the platform’s automated systems flagged the channel for suspicious activity.

This incident raises concerns about the security of official government channels. It highlights the need for increased cybersecurity measures to protect against hacking. The incident may have legal implications for YouTube and hackers.

Previous Incidents of XRP Scams on YouTube

In April 2023, popular YouTube DidYouKnowGaming’s Channel with 2.4 million subscribers was hacked to promote XRP scams.

Ripple had also sued YouTube for failing to remove XRP scams from its platform, and the two parties reached a settlement.

Crypto scams are on the rise particularly during times of market hype. Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz, recently warned against XRP scam amid SEC-induced hype.

As the cryptocurrency market matures, it is essential to address the vulnerabilities exploited by the hackers. The collaboration between the regulatory bodies, social media platforms, and cybersecurity experts will be crucial in preventing similar incidents. The future of cryptocurrency depends on the ability to create a secure and trustworthy environment for investors.
