Immutable Launches Mobile Gaming Division As It Eyes $121b Market

Immutable, a web3 gaming platform that helps developers launch and scale games, has unveiled a new mobile gaming division as it aims to dominate the $121 billion mobile market.

Summary

  • Immutable has launched Mobile Gaming Division as it looks to onboard the next billion web3 gaming players.
  • Mobile gaming offers a $121 billion opportunity that Immutable seeks to seize on for growth.

Immutable’s Mobile Gaming Division features a specialist task force whose main goal will be to bring partner games to a mobile market worth over $121 billion. More than 50% of gamers play on mobile and generate $121 billion in revenue annually, the platform noted.

The new unit will focus on accelerating mainstream adoption of web3 gaming via mobile-first strategies.

Mobile studios building on Immutable (IMX)’s platform will also get investment support, while the team will eye on-chain integration and partnerships. A press release revealed the initiative will target publishers and app stores.

Immutable sees the mobile-focused approach as the next step toward onboarding the next one billion players to the web3 gaming ecosystem.

“Mobile is the single largest opportunity in gaming, with over half of the world’s gamers now playing on their phones, generating $121 billion a year,” said Robbie Ferguson, co-founder of Immutable. “Since the judicial shifts in April, Immutable has already propelled three games to the the #1 spot on mobile charts like the App Store and Google Play,” he added.

According to the Immutable co-founder, the platform is committed to making heavy investments across new products, talent, and partnerships as it eyes traction for on-chain games.

The end of a legal hurdle with the Securities and Exchange Commission and regulatory milestones such as the CLARITY Act provide much needed tailwinds. In a bullish market, these could see web3 gaming hit the next level of adoption, and Immutable stands poised to bring this reality to market.

The company has seen notable growth since its launch in 2018, with significant developments including the rollout of Immutable Chain, a scalable Ethereum layer-2 solution. There’s also the gaming wallet Immutable Passport and engagement platform Immutable Play.

In the past year, Immutable has hit milestones such as the listing of over 180 new games, expansion of web2 games, and major partnerships with centralized exchanges and stablecoin providers.
