Polyethylene is a member of the family of polyolefin resins. It is the most widely used plastic globally and often finds use in typical applications like bottles, bags, toys, and tubes. Polyethylene futures are widely traded on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE), and the standard contract size is 5 tonnes. Futures contracts for Polyethylene are financial instruments that allow producers, large consumers, and speculators, to offset or assume the risk of a price change of holding a quantity of Polyethylene over time. Prices for Polyethylene displayed in Trading Economics are based on over-the-counter (OTC) and contract for difference (CFD) financial instruments.
