Thomas Cook India has announced the launch of Contactless Payment, an added benefit to its existing prepaid forex cards.

Based on radio-frequency identification (RFID) or near-field communication (NFC), contactless payment enables consumers to purchase products and services, with just a tap. The tap-and-go feature valid on Thomas Cook’s Borderless Prepaid card and One-currency card is expected to speed up the transaction process for both the consumers and the merchant.

The contactless payment process involves users to tap his/her card near a point-of-sale terminal and the transaction takes place automatically.

Commenting on this new development, Kailash Gupta,  Senior Vice President and Head of Payment Solutions, Thomas Cook (India) Ltd., said, “Throughout its pioneering journey, Thomas Cook India has always focused on innovation and technology to maximise customer experience, and hence, the ‘contactless’ feature on our Borderless Prepaid Card and One Currency Card serves to reiterate our customer centric philosophy.

“The tap-and-go solution has been made possible by leveraging smart technology, driven by our aim of enhancing convenience and speed of transactions, an essential ask of today’s new age global traveller.”
