Travellers with fond memories of The Excelsior, Hong Kong wishing to celebrate the historic hotel’s 45 years of service will be able to do so during its final days of operation ahead of its March 31 closing date with three new “Fond Farewell” packages.

Over its lifespan, the hotel – which is the only property in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s portfolio that doesn’t operate under its flagship brand – has been a popular choice of accommodation for many travellers. Indeed, as this thread in our forums attests, this also includes a number of Business Traveller Asia-Pacific readers.

The hotel is offering two-night packages valid for 29-31 March for travellers wishing to stay at the hotel one last time before it closes its doors for good. Each includes a two-night stay in a Deluxe Harbour View Room and one farewell dinner, along with an invitation to a reception on the evening of March 30 as well as buffet breakfast for two at Café on the 1st on March 31.

The difference between the three packages comes in where guests would like to have their farewell dinner. The least expensive is priced at HK$6,088 (US$776) and includes a dinner for two at Dickens Bar. The second, costing HK$6,288 (US$801), entails a farewell dinner buffet for two at Café on the 1st.

The most expensive option includes a dinner for two at ToTT’s and Roof Terrace, coming in at a noticeably heftier sum of HK$9,688 (US$1,235). There’s also a further 10 per cent service charge applied on top of these rates.
