Marriott’s lifestyle Moxy Hotels brand will open two new properties in New York by the end of this year, adding to the existing Moxy Times Square.

The 298-room new-build Moxy Downtown is set to open this summer, and will be located off Broadway close to the World Trade Centre.

Features will include a third floor “play space”, which according to Marriott is “Designed to be the ultimate 24/7 neighbourhood hangout spot for both day and night”, with work spaces, games and entertainment, and a 12-foot by 21-foot “LED Wall”.

The hotel’s food and beverage offering will be run by a local partner, and will feature “bespoke cocktails, elevated bar fare and a tailored coffee programme”.

Meanwhile the Moxy Chelsea is scheduled to open by the end of the year, and is being described as a “micro-room, macro-amenity hotel”.

The 349-room property features a greenhouse style atrium with flower shop, trattoria, pasticceria and café, and a second floor space mixing meeting studios, a co-working lounge and a bar.

The 37-floor building will also have a glass-enclosed rooftop bar, which can be converted into an alfresco space through retractable windows.

Signature features of both hotels will include free wifi and a 24-hour grab-and-go food and beverage offering.

Moxy Hotels debuted in Milan in 2014 (for a review of this hotel click here), and in December 2016 opened its first UK property in Aberdeen, followed by London’s Excel in March 2017.

The brand is also set to open a hotel on Heathrow’s Bath Road, with Marriott’s website currently advising of an April 2018 opening date.
