A spring debut is planned for a new VIP lounge at Jacksonville International Airport, which also is adding a third concourse.

The Jacksonville Daily Record reports that the $1-million Club Jax is currently under construction. The 336 sqm lounge will feature relaxation and productivity areas as well as facilities for children, a bar, hot and cold food, and concierge services.

The lounge is not to be confused with Club Jacksonville, also known as Club Jax, which is a gay bar in the city’s San Marco district.

Access to the airport Club Jax will be available to Priority Pass, LoungeKey, Diners Club International, and AAA  members, as well as day visitors who pay a $40 entry fee.

Separately, the newspaper reported that the airport will add a third concourse with six gates to cope with growth that topped 16 per cent in 2018. More than 6.4 million passenger used the airport last year; currently, there are two concourses and 20 gates in operation.

Airport officials are hoping to have the new concourse open by December 2022.

Improvements to the airport’s bathrooms and food and beverage options also are being planned.
