Hilton has added the latest US property under its luxury Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts brand.

The Waldorf Astoria Washington DC is located on Pennsylvania Avenue within the former headquarters of the US Post Office Department, a building which was built between 1892 and 1899 and which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Situated less than a mile from the White House, the property features a clocktower and observatory deck – the third tallest building in Washington DC.

Until recently the property had been operating as the Trump International Hotel Washington DC, with The Guardian reporting last month that the building’s lease had been sold to Florida-based investors for $375 million.
