There are currently no Fairmont properties operating in Spain – the web page for the Fairmont Barcelona Rey Juan Carlos I states that the hotel “is closed until further notice”, adding that:

“It is with a heavy heart that the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I Barcelona and Palau de Congressos de Catalunya have taken the difficult decision to temporarily suspend all operations, based on the difficult current circumstances generated by the owning company of the Hotel / Palau (Barcelona Project’s S.A).”

Across Europe the brand has a portfolio of six hotels, including four in the UK and Ireland – Scotland’s Fairmont St Andrews, London’s The Savoy, Ireland’s Carton House, and the recently opened Fairmont Windsor Park.

Commenting on the news Xavier Grange, SVP of development for Accor in Southern Europe, said:

“We are delighted to announce the signing of this Fairmont hotel in Spain, especially with our partners Millenium Hospitality Real Estate and Odyssey Hotel Group. It is an important step in the development of luxury of Accor in the southern European region.

“Our ambition is to continue building a greater collection of luxury hotels, especially resorts, to meet the growing demand for high-end hospitality in the market. I am sure that Fairmont La Hacienda will be one of the most luxurious destinations in southern Europe.”
